Wow, I’m a top 40 Billboard Artist. Words cannot describe the surreal feeling of seeing my name on the same billboard chart that has Adele #1, Maroon 5 #2, and Bruno Mars #3. I’ll gladly take the last spot at #40! No one can take that away ever lol. Never expected all of this to happen this quick and again, let my journey and story be an inspiration to all those that dare to dream big. Remarkably, I’m the only artist on that list that is unsigned…big thanks to my manager, my fans, family, and music directors across Canada who believed in me and my music!

MY SONG DEBUTS #24 ON CANADA’S BILLBOARD CHARTS

My manager messages me on facebook yesterday and told me that my song ‘Wanna Be Loved’ just debuted #24 on Canada’s Billboard Emerging Artist Chart! I was in shock and asked him what exactly does that mean lol “Exactly what it reads” he said. He fires off a link and I see my name on a Billboard Chart…which immediately made me think of a conversation I had with a person back in the spring’11 before I started to record my first album.

My close friends and family knew I set ambitious goals to hit the charts by the fall but when people outside your inner circle hear mention about making charts with no major label behind you, many will dismiss that as pie in the sky a.k.a. dreaming lol. It’s hard enough for an unsigned artist to get major radio play let alone make Billboard. So I learned to park negative comments outside my head and continued to fine tune my art and believe in my team.

When I saw my name under a Billboard Chart yesterday, not only was it surreal for a split moment, it reconfirmed that great things can happen if you believe. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it and follow the road to your goal. If you’re a young musician or aspire to be great in whatever field, just do it. The universe does amazing things when you’re focused and see opportunities when they knock. It was only a year ago when I grabbed my guitar and went door-to-door to play music for money. I knew I wanted to be a musician so I did things that were hard and often humbling. At the end of the day, I realized if I could go door to door and make people happy with my music, I could eventually be brave enough to knock on the world’s door too. Believe especially when you have the best fans and friends in the world! - Scotty.

Bell Media/CHUM Emerging Artist for October

So I was playing a wedding the other day for a lovely young lady named Jenn Barber. I was in the middle of setting up my equipment like I usually would for a wedding and my manager shocks me with some totally unexpected news! He informs me that I just won the CHUM (Bell media) emerging artist initiative! This means I get major radio play accross the country with a whole bunch of new listeners AND the potential of hitting the top 40 charts! Amazing right?

Less than a year ago I set a few goals for my music career. At that time, I only had 29 facebook fans. My goal was to make good music and hopefully get 5,000 by the end of this summer. I not only reached that goal, but broke 6,000 today! Thank you!! I have the world’s bestest friends!! I also set a goal to make the Top 40 Charts..winning this award can now make it happen!
